In the second part of our interview blog series, we’ll learn more about design. Mirco Raddatz has been the design expert at Anevis Solutions for more than eight years and is the primary contact person on this behalf internally and externally.

Over the years, he has supported more than 60 customers in their design process.

What does the design process for reporting look like at Anevis Solutions?

The design process can differ. Either we “copy” an existing design because clients create their factsheets themselves or have received a layout from an agency – if desired, we can still make slight adjustments here. Alternatively, we create a draft based on examples from factsheets that the client sends us  i.g. collages or silhouettes, oriented towards the elements from the samples.

Another option is to create different proposals and layouts based on the client’s website or other marketing documents.

If a corporate design is available, we are happy to consider and incorporate the specifications.

What information do we need from our customers?

For the design process, depending on the requirements, we need the existing factsheets, presentations, or other marketing materials from which we can derive a layout or style. In addition, if available, the corporate design guide and the logo files in high resolution or as vector graphics. If there is a corporate font, we might have to license it.

Additionally, we need information on who is our contact person for design at our customers. Next, we clarify what content you want to display on the factsheets. Are there specific key figures or evaluations related to selected assets? Is there additional data? Finally, we collect all information to create a draft that our engine will later fill with the fund data and key figures dynamically.

What is possible in terms of Individualization?

It is possible to create factsheets with almost any number of pages.

We can do various evaluations on the portfolio if the data is available, such as asset or country allocations, and a wide range of statistics and bond or stock ratios can be calculated. Also, a comparator in all performance charts, rolling Volatility or Correlation, Maximum Drawdowns, or Risk-and-Return-Chart can be shown. The portfolio evaluations can be displayed graphically as a ring, pie or bar charts or in tables.

In addition, the layout can “grow or shrink” individually, for example, when elements in tables become longer or shorter so that there are no empty spaces in rows. It is also possible to output the page wider than an A4 page so that print shops can automatically trim bleeds/print margins. Furthermore, we can combine different data sets in a chart containing a bar and a line chart showing past years’ performance. We can fix data sets to the last day of the month or previous months and only update them once a month.

Are there limits to the individualization of factsheets?

Since our engine creates the factsheets automatically, the charts may not always be 100% aligned due to inevitable scaling and changes in the portfolio. Perhaps a label in an axis caption is cut a little, a chart line writes “out of the picture” in the case of fixed axes, and other minor “optical bugs” occur in the charting.

There are no restrictions on the template’s layout, as all elements can grow dynamically.

We do not offer any “agency services,” so image editing and creation of graphic elements are not possible or only possible to a minimal extent.
