There are events where the focus is on everything that works. And then there is Anecon.

As moderator, I once again had the pleasure of guiding an event this year that follows a rather unusual principle in the financial industry: the focus is not on products or sales, but on problems. Specifically, the operational challenges that asset managers, management companies, and other market participants face every single day. And that, to me, is what makes Anecon so unique.

Where else do operations professionals come together to openly discuss what is not yet working perfectly within their own organizations? Where do companies openly share the processes they are currently improving, the solutions that have proven successful, and the areas where they are still searching for answers?

At Anecon, they do. Perhaps because the event is not dominated by the usual sales conversations. Instead of product pitches, there are practical insights. Instead of polished presentations, there are real-world challenges. And instead of exchanging business cards for the sake of networking, participants engage in meaningful professional discussions where everyone can learn from one another.

After all, progress does not begin when everyone claims to have the perfect solution. It begins when someone is willing to put a problem on the table.

This year’s agenda covered many of the topics currently shaping the financial industry. How is artificial intelligence changing the way market data is sourced and used? How can marketing processes—and customer reporting in particular—be automated? What new opportunities does AI create when a traditional factsheet evolves into a “talking factsheet”? And, of course, regulation remained a key topic, with particular attention given to the upcoming changes under SFDR 2.0.

What made these discussions especially valuable was that the answers did not come from textbooks—they came from real-life experience. The speakers shared insights from their own projects, practical solutions that are already delivering results, and, just as importantly, the challenges they encountered along the way.

Naturally, Anevis Solutions, the organizer of Anecon, is part of this ecosystem of solutions. The company works closely with its clients to develop solutions for exactly the kinds of operational challenges that define the event. To me, what makes the concept truly special is that Anevis creates and funds a platform where professional knowledge exchange—not sales—is the central focus.

After many conversations, presentations, and discussions, my conclusion is clear: Anecon demonstrates how valuable an industry event can be when participants talk not only about what they do well, but also about where they still have room to improve.
